Overview of the Swiss and global art market
Art Basel the most famous art fair in the world was founded in 1968 in Basel by Ernst Beyeler (Founder of the Fondation Beyeler) and some colleagues. To this day, Art Basel is still the best art fair in the world. In 1996, Peter Bläuer together with some gallerists like Eva Presenhuber created Liste Art Fair - the young art fair.
Since 2006, Art Basel also hosts Design Miami Basel art fair.
In addition to Art Basel, Art Geneva launched in 2012 in Geneva.
Switzerland is also home to some blue chip galleries such as Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth and also Pace Gallery.
Switzerland remains on of the strongest art markets globally.
